From clinical use to food industry, NGOs, to various Government departments, academics etc. budding nutritionists find themselves employed with organizations ranging from angarwadis to the World Health Organization. Dr Asna Urooj, Professor and Chairman Dept. of Food Science and Nutrition, University of Mysore, explains how and why, in the last decade, Nutrition has taken off as an Industry and is one of the most sought after careers in India.
“In 2013 we introduced a specialization course on clinical nutrition and dietitics, this was actally on demand,” says Dr. Urooj. Much of this is because nutrition is increasingly becoming a precise science, with Body Composition Analysis being the most important technological tool for those in this profession.
The Mysore University owns an InBody 770 – the most advanced body composition analyser. Currently there are 5 ongoing researches – ranging from Cancer to impact on Ramzan on Body Composition – that are based on data generated by InBody.
