We are InBody, a worldwide leader in body composition technology.
In the early 1990s, founder and CEO, Dr. Kichul Cha, recognised that the available BIA devices were limited and faulty. They were often inaccurate, and from a medical standpoint, useless for treating patients who needed body composition analysis the most. Drawing from his background in mechanical engineering, he set to work to design something better.
In 1996, he founded InBody. Two years later, the first InBody device was born. Today, InBody has grown from a small biotech startup in South Korea to a multinational corporation with branches and distributors in more than 110 countries. Our clients trust us to provide precise, useful, and accurate body composition data to their users because they know that InBody combines convenience, accuracy, and reproducibility in one easy-to-use device.

History of InBody
Early 1990's
Dr. Kichul Cha recognized BIA devices were inaccurate, making them useless to the medical industry.
1996
InBody was founded in South Korea. Products feature direct segmental multi-frequency bioelectrical impedance analysis (DSM-BIA) and an eight-point tactile electrode system to measure an individual's body composition without the use of empirical data.
2000
InBody established its first overseas subsidiary in Beverly Hills, California. InBody technology is FDA-Cleared and results have been validated by research.
2009
GE Healthcare Strategic Business Partnership
2012
InBody moved its corporate office from Beverly Hills to Cerritos, California.
2013
The InBody 570, capable of measuring segmental fat analysis including visceral fat level, is released.
2014
The InBody 770, a new research-grade body composition analyzer is launched and the InBody 570 wins the Red Dot Design Award.
2015
iF DESIGN AWARD is given to the InBody 770. InBody receives the 2015 Foreign Direct Investment Award from the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce during World Trade Week.
InBody BAND and InLab win CES 2015 Innovation Award for wearable technologies.
InBody unveiled the InBody BAND, the world’s first wearable body composition device.
2016
LookinBodyWeb, a cloud-based data software is launched.
The InBody PUSH, a handheld, portable stadiometer is released for the first time in the United States.
The InBody 270, designed specifically for professionals who need to analyze body composition on-the-go, goes on sale.
2017
InBody releases the InBody BAND 2, a second-generation wearable body composition device. The BAND 2 features EZTraining™, which automatically tracks exercises. The Cheonan Production Factory expansion is also completed, taking the facility to 22,480 m² across multiple floors. InBody also opens its European subsidiary in the Netherlands.
2018
InBody's BPBIO320 sphygmomanometer becomes the first Korean blood pressure monitor to pass the European Society of Hypertension (ESH) clinical validation.
2019
InBody Mexico is established, expanding the company's Latin American footprint.
2020
InBody opens its U.K. subsidiary to serve the British and Irish markets directly.
2021
InBody establishes the Jinshan factory in China (InBody China Medical Technology) for regional production.
2023
InBody launches three new subsidiaries: InBody Oceania (Australia), InBody BWA (United States), and InBody Asia Pte. (Singapore). The next-generation InBody S-series and BWA 2.0 platforms are also released.
2024
InBody establishes its Vietnam subsidiary, deepening its presence across Southeast Asia.
2026
InBody is now present in 110+ countries with more than 180 million tests recorded globally. InBody India serves 1,500+ hospital, gym, and corporate wellness clients across 100+ Indian cities.
